Republicans cite failures and missed opportunities by Democrats in recent floor action

One day after house of origin cutoff in the Legislature, House Republicans told members of the media Democrats failed to pass much needed fixes to their 2021 police reform bills and missed an opportunity to pass a “middle housing” bill requested by Gov. Jay Inslee that had the support of some Republicans and could have increased housing supply in the state. Senate Republicans told reporters they were shocked when the majority party in the Senate limited debate on a Democratic $16 billion transportation proposal.

Republicans also answered questions on emergency powers reform legislation, the increased surplus in the state’s latest revenue forecast, and reports of Democratic staff members who staged a sickout after the majority party failed to bring forward a bill extending collective bargaining rights to legislative employees. Attending the media availability were House Republican Leader J.T. Wilcox, Rep. Eric Robertson, Senate Majority Leader John Braun and Sen. Keith Wagoner.
